Come to terms with trauma

What happened to you is part of your story. It doesn’t have to control your future.
Understanding Trauma

Trauma can come from a single overwhelming experience or from situations that continued over a long period of time.

Even when something happened years ago, its effects can still show up in everyday life — through anxiety, low self-worth, difficult relationships, emotional reactions, sleep problems, avoidance or feeling constantly on guard.

Sometimes you can understand something intellectually, yet your body and emotions continue to react as though the danger is still present.

You can’t change what happened. But you can change the way it affects you today.

How Hypnotherapy can help

Trauma work begins with creating a sense of safety and control.
Dealing With Trauma

Hypnotherapy can help you develop greater awareness of the thoughts, emotions and responses connected to your experiences, while learning ways to calm your nervous system and feel more grounded in the present.

Together, we can work towards:

  • feeling safer and more settled in yourself
  • reducing anxiety and emotional overwhelm
  • changing unhelpful beliefs about yourself
  • building self-worth and inner confidence
  • developing healthier ways of responding to triggers
  • reducing the power that past experiences have over your present life
  • creating a stronger sense of control and choice

You don’t have to relive everything to move forward.

The goal isn’t to erase your past. It’s to help you feel less controlled by it.

Treatment

Creating safety, understanding and a way forward
Treating Trauma

Depending on your individual circumstances, treatment may include therapeutic hypnosis, relaxation, visualisation, hypno-cognitive techniques and carefully paced therapeutic work.

We focus on helping you develop resources and coping strategies while working at a pace that feels manageable for you.

You can begin to separate what happened then from what is happening now.

The past can remain part of your history without continuing to define who you are.

You survived the experience. Now you can begin creating a life beyond it.

Trauma and PTSD can require specialist psychological or medical treatment. Hypnotherapy may be used as a complementary approach and is not a substitute for appropriate trauma-focused care.
